Sen. Kyl Keeps His Seat
Republican incumbent U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl defeated Democrat Jim Pederson in Arizona's Senate race.
The race was highly competitive as each took opposing hard-line positions on divisive issues such as embryonic stem-cell research and abortion.
Family advocates applaud Arizona voters for supporting Kyl, who has twice cosponsored amendments to the U.S. Constitution to outlaw abortion in almost all circumstances, including rape and incest. Kyl also voted to protect marriage from redefinition and supports noncontroversial adult stem-cell research over life-destroying embryonic stem-cell research.
