Republican: Jon Kyl 53%
Democrat: Jim Pederson 44%

Why we’re watching: Arizonans have a lot at stake. Sen. Jon Kyl, a conservative champion who in his last election won with 79 percent of the vote, finds himself in a competitive race this year against former state Democratic Chairman Jim Pederson. On many issues, the two seek to "out-conservative" each other, but on stem cell research and the War on Terrorism, they hold quite different views.
According to NARAL, Pederson is a strong supporter of embryonic stem-cell research and abortion rights.
Sen. Kyl has twice cosponsored amendments to the Constitution to outlaw abortion in almost all circumstances, including rape and incest. Kyl voted yes on constitutional ban of same-sex marriage. Kyle supports stem-cell research that does not destroy human embryos.

Democrat: Janet Napolitano 63%
Republican Len Munsil 35%
Precincts Reporting: 99%
Why we're watching: Called a civil but contentious match-up, economics and border security are the main topics in this gubernatorial race, but family issues are notable, as well.
Napolitano vetoed pro-life bills to that require informed consent before a woman has an abortion and clarified Arizona’s parental consent law regarding minors’ abortions. She opposes Proposition 107, the Protect Marriage Arizona Amendment, to define marriage in Arizona’s constitution as the union of one man and one woman.
Munsil founded The Center for Arizona Policy and served as President for ten years. He was one of the drafters of Proposition 107.

Democrat: Gabrielle Giffords 54%
Republican: Randy Graf 42%

Why we're watching: Arizona’s eighth district is one that could tip the balance of power in Washington. Eleven-term U.S. Rep. Jim Kolbe, a Republican, is retiring from what is considered a swing district – where registered Republicans hold a 6 percent edge over Democrats and 26 percent are independents. Some pundits rank this Arizona district as the most likely in the country to change parties on November 7. Randy Graf is an unapologetic pro-family conservative. He has been endorsed by National Right to Life and strongly supports marriage protection efforts. Gabrielle Giffords is pro-abortion and has sponsored hate-crime legislation in the state legislature.
