Dist. 3
Republican:
Anne Northup: 48%
Democrat: John Yarmuth: 51%
Precincts Reporting: 100%

Elected in 1996, Northup, who was unopposed in the primary, is seeking a sixth term. Yarmuth, a former newspaper publisher, was nominated with 54 percent of the vote in a four-way primary.

Why we're watching: Democrat challenger Yarmuth is a board member of Planned Parenthood in Louisville and supports same-sex marriage. Republican Representative Northrup has a proven pro-life and pro-traditional marriage voting record.  She voted against human embryonic stem cell research and in favor of a constitutional amendment protecting marriage.
