Klobuchar was elected president of the Minnesota County Attorneys Association in 1998 and again in 2002. Kennedy, a congressman, was nominated with 90% in a three-way primary.
Why we're watching: A seat left open by retiring Sen. Mark Dayton is a tossup between Republican Rep. Mark Kennedy and Democratic attorney Amy Klobuchar. Klobuchar is endorsed by pro-abortion Emily's List, which states "Klobuchar fully supports reproductive rights." Kennedy has a 100-percent pro-life voting record in Congress.

Why we're watching: State Senator Michele Bachmann and child safety activist Patty Wetterling are in a tight race to succeed Rep. Mark Kennedy, who is running for the Senate. Bachmann, a Republican, has championed conservative fiscal and social issues in the Minnesota State Senate. She authored the state constitutional amendment to protect marriage as well as a bill to repeal the Minnesota death tax. Bachmann is endorsed by the National Right to Life while Democrat candidate Patty Wetterling received the endorsement of the pro-abortion Emily's List.
