Republican: Mark Kennedy: 38%
Democrat: Amy Klobuchar: 58%
Precincts Reporting: 99%

Klobuchar was elected president of the Minnesota County Attorneys Association in 1998 and again in 2002. Kennedy, a congressman, was nominated with 90% in a three-way primary.

Why we're watching: A seat left open by retiring Sen. Mark Dayton is a tossup between Republican Rep. Mark Kennedy and Democratic attorney Amy Klobuchar. Klobuchar is endorsed by pro-abortion Emily's List, which states "Klobuchar fully supports reproductive rights."  Kennedy has a 100-percent pro-life voting record in Congress.

Dist. 6
Republican:
Michele Bachmann: 50%
Democrat: Patty Wetterling: 42%
Precincts Reporting: 97%

Bachmann, a state senator, was unopposed in the primary. Wetterling, a child safety activist, was unopposed in the primary.

Why we're watching: State Senator Michele Bachmann and child safety activist Patty Wetterling are in a tight race to succeed Rep. Mark Kennedy, who is running for the Senate.  Bachmann, a Republican, has championed conservative fiscal and social issues in the Minnesota State Senate.  She authored the state constitutional amendment to protect marriage as well as a bill to repeal the Minnesota death tax.  Bachmann is endorsed by the National Right to Life while Democrat candidate Patty Wetterling received the endorsement of the pro-abortion Emily's List.
