Republican: Conrad Burns: 48%
Democrat: Jon Tester: 49%
Precincts Reporting: 100%

Tester is currently the president of the state Senate. First elected in 1988, Burns is seeking a fourth term.

Why we're watching: This looks to be a hard-fought philosophical battle right down to the wire.  Pro-abortion candidate Tester, who opposes marriage-protection amendments at both the state and federal levels, is giving incumbent Sen. Burns a run for his money.  Burns has earned the endorsement of National Right to Life and voted in favor of the Marriage Protection Amendment.
