Republican: Rick Santorum: 41%
Democrat: Bob Casey Jr.: 59%
Precincts Reporting: 99%
Robert Casey, Jr., is the state treasurer and son of the late pro-life Democrat governor. First elected in 1994, Santorum, who was unopposed in the primary, is seeking a third full term.
Why we're watching: Enemy number one for Democrats this year is Rick Santorum. His dynamic leadership on pro-family issues in Congress, coupled with the fact that he represents a state that voted for Gore and Kerry in the last two presidential elections, makes Santorum very vulnerable. His Democrat challenger Bob Casey is pro-life, though some question his dedication in the face of pro-abortion Democrat leadership. Unlike Santorum, Casey does not support the Marriage Protection Amendment to preserve traditional marriage.

Dist. 7
Republican: Curt Weldon: 44%
Democrat: Joe Sestak: 56%
Precincts Reporting: 96%
Elected in 1986, Weldon, who was unopposed in the primary, is seeking an 11th term. Sestak, a former Navy admiral, was unopposed in the primary.
Why we're watching: Incumbent Republican Curt Weldon and Democrat challenger Joe Sestak differ drastically on abortion and life issues. Sestak supports abortion rights and the federal funding of embryonic stem-cell research while Weldon scores very high with National Right to Life and voted against federal funding of human embryonic stem-cell research.
In recent days, allegations have been made against Weldon that he helped his daughter win lobbying contracts. This news has made Pennsylvania’s seventh district a top-watched race.
