Dist. 22
Republican Write-In Candidates:

Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs: 42%

Joe Reasbeck %
Democrat: Nick Lampson: 52%
Libertarian: Bob Smither: %

Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, a medical doctor and Houston City Council member, is the Republican frontrunner. Lampson, a former congressman, was unopposed in the primary.
After being indicted on conspiracy charges, eleven-term Congressman Tom DeLay resigned from the House of Representatives in June. He was the second-highest ranking member in the House where he served as Majority Leader since 2002. DeLay’s resignation came after his name was printed on the 2006 ballot. As a result, three Republicans are running as write-in candidates along with Democrat Nick Lampson and Libertarian Bob Smither. While a heavily Republican district, Lampson is well-known as a former Member of Congress and has a strong advantage according to the pundits. Libertarian Smither, who contended he’s the only fiscal conservative in the race, is the only candidate besides Lampson whose name will appear on the ballot. A self-proclaimed pro-family, pro-life conservative, Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs is the Republican front-runner.
