Spratt Wins 13th Term in Rural S.C. District
South Carolina D-Rep. John Spratt won his 13th term in the rural Fifth Congressional District. Spratt raised considerable dollars from the North Carolina and the business community. His support of taxpayer funding for embryonic stem-cell research was diametrically opposed to his Republican opponent Ralph Norman.
Norman ran on a strong pro-life platform. As a state representative, Norman’s voting record showed his support for pro-marriage initiatives.
Currently, Spratt serves as the Assistant to the Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. He also sits on the House Armed Services Committee.
