In the lawsuit, P. Victor Gonzalez claims he was fired in March of 2004 by the abortion provider for pointing out “illegal accounting, billing and donation practices of Planned Parenthood.” A state audit from 2003 lends credibility to his allegation by identifying more than five million dollars in overcharges. Mark Crutcher is with Life Dynamics.
“The potential for corruption is very high and when you have an organization that is morally bankrupt as Planned Parenthood is, it just stands to reason it’s going to be corrupt in its billing practices.”
The lawsuit was filed under seal in 2005 and made public this week. Jen Giroux with Women Influencing the Nation asks why Planned Parenthood’s accounting isn’t out in the open.
“We need to wake up to how many times Planned Parenthood manages to get hearings under seal. No special interest groups should be above the law or should get judicial protection.”
Georgette Forney with Silent No More says the lawsuit brings into question all of Planned Parenthoods activities.
“Is there any other place where Planned Parenthood might be willing to compromise? If they are willing to compromise on how they use our tax dollars, might they also be compromising on the care of women?”
No comment from Planned Parenthood.
