The gathering wasn’t exactly fair and balanced. Here, blogger Mike Zark prefaces a question at the event announcing the alliance.
“In 2003 and 2004 conservatives were no less single-minded and vicious in their determination with regards to screwing up this country and the rest of the world. George Bush was the same incompetent and criminally inclined person that McSame will probably be…”
But such is the nature of the groups involved. MoveOn.org is one. Ilyse Hogue says their political goals are ambitious.
“We know that taking back the White House isn’t enough. We’ve watched what not having 60 votes in the Senate has done to our agenda.”
ACORN will work the grassroots. Its spokesman is Zach Polett.
“From Labor Day until Election Day we’re targeting 2.5 million infrequent and newly registered voters; people who have not been previously participating.”
Acorn and Rock the Vote will specifically target young people. But Wendy Wright of Concerned Women for America promises the left won’t be the only people working for a cause.
“It means that we need to have as many and more people who believe in biblical values getting out to vote to ensure that we won’t be silenced.”
She says unchecked, these groups would take a jackhammer to the foundation of America, respect for religious freedom, respect for life and liberty for all.
