Teacher in Court for Anti-Christian Comments

by Josh Montez

James Corbett of Capistrano Valley High repeatedly bashes conservatives, Christians, the Boy Scouts and even President Bush in a class on European History.

16-year-old student Chad Farnan says the recordings he made of Corbett’s show his disdain for Christianity.  Farnan, a Christian, is taking the teacher to court because he feels like a second-class citizen.  Jennifer Monk is with Advocates for Faith and Freedom.

“He makes comments such as ‘when you put on your Jesus glasses you can’t see the truth. When you pray for divine intervention it’s like asking the spaghetti monster for help.”

He even said conservatives want to keep women barefoot and pregnant.  Monk contends Corbett and the school district stand by the comments.

“We’ve never heard him apologize for them.  The school district filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit in federal court and in their briefing they argued that these comments are part of the curriculum.”

The lawsuit, that is moving forward, says Corbett’s comments are hostile to Christianity and a violation of the Establishment Clause.  Former Los Angeles radio talk-show host, Warren Duffy.

“Our kids shouldn’t have to come into the classroom and park their faith out on the curb, and even worse, come into the school where there’s this supposed Separation of Church and State and just be belittled or dismissed in front of their classmates because they believe in their Christian faith.”

Many other parents have complained and removed their kids from Corbett’s class.
