Last year at the Talladega Motor Speedway the Number 78 National Day of Prayer car took the lead for few laps and got a mention on national TV. As things gear up for this year’s events, Billy Mauldin Jr. of Motor Racing Outreach says it’s great to have the NDP car in Alabama again, ready to race.
“It’s fun to have an organization such as Furniture Row, one of our race teams that have taken the time for the race Talladega to put the National Day of Prayer logo on a car that’s quite frankly one of the coolest looking paint schemes you’ll see out there. for the race.”
NDP spokesman Brian Toon says having NDP represented at a national race changes the perception of prayer.
“We don’t want people to think that prayer is just this stuffy thing that you can’t have some great fun with and interest and joy with. It’s important to pray for our nation and to reach out to people. And sometimes you need to reach where they are at.”
Especially men, according to Toon.
“There are so many great women prayer intercessors in our country, but men quite often have lagged behind it. Men, as leaders of their families and leaders in their communities need to communicate with God – our leader.”
The National Day of Prayer is Thursday May 1st. For more information visit nationaldayofprayer.org.
