Reaction from insulted subscribers flooded eHarmony offices. Schleau Bignell read the three paragraph apology that was prominently featured on the company’s web site and was the subject of an eHarmony e-newsletter to members.
“And I really do hope that that is the case and they will make some changes.”
Trusting eHarmony again will take some time, especially after Bignell’s initial experience calling the corporate office when the outrageous article was published.
“He did say it was basically reflected, the article reflects society at large and so they stand by their article because it’s a very common occurrence. So, it was really an article they felt helped singles out.”
In the statement, eHarmony’s Vice President of Publishing promised to ‘immediately upgrading our editorial review process.’ Lisa Anderson is the host of Focus On the Family’s Boundless.org. She says the response proves Christians speaking up is vital.
“Well the reason he was made aware of the column is because people as a result of Family News In Focus and some of the other groups here at Focus On the Family we gave a shout out and people started cancelling their accounts.”
E-Harmony’s proposed turnaround on content will be under Bignell’s watchful eye.
“I will definitely be watching and taking notice if they fulfill their promise.”
Wary subscribers will be watching too.
