Radio Broadcast Hall of Fame

by Karen Johnson

The Focus on the Family Daily Radio Broadcast could be going to the National Radio Hall of Fame. To qualify, a program or host must have made at least 10 years of significant contributions to the industry on a national level.

Dr. James Dobson first opened the microphone as host of the Focus On The Family Daily Radio Broadcast simply as a messenger of God’s intention for husbands, wives, and kids. Executive Producer Rob Kirkpatrick says, “one of the things that surprised him was how effective that interaction was gonna be as the influx of mail started immediately.”

The program is heard on over a 1,000 radio stations around the world.

“One of the strengths that Dr. Dobson brings is the ability to have in mind that listener as if they’re sitting at the table with him and the guest.”

The show tackles diverse topics. ‘Thriving In A Spiritually Divided Home’ featured Nancy Sebastian Meyer.

Dobson: And I tell you, Nancy, she prayed for my grandfather for 40 long years.”

Dobson: And my grandfather gave his heart to the Lord. I want to say to the women out there don’t give up, it’s not over.”

It has its lighter moments as well. Art Linkletter, former TV host and kindergarten Sunday School Teacher, as a guest.

Linkletter: And I said all the animals came in he said two by two every kind of animal in the world and I said what do suppose they ate while they were floating around. He says well they didn’t eat any fish they only had two worms.
