November 2006 Action Update

by Tom Minnery

In the wake of the elections, brace for the liberals now in charge of the House and Senate to unleash themselves. They’ve been subdued so far, for two reasons:

1. Nancy Pelosi, the incoming House Speaker, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid know that liberalism did not put them where they are. Election Day 2006 was not a vote for their brand of politics, it was a referendum on the failure of the Republican politicians to act as the conservatives they claimed to be.

2. The Democrats now in charge of Congress don’t have a plan. They know the war in Iraq is dragging on, but all during the campaign they denied they are the “cut-and-run” crowd. And now they must prove it. Their problem is that a complete pullout, before the fledgling Iraqi democracy takes hold, is exactly what the left wing of their party wants.

And sooner or later the true colors will show on other issues as well. I predict that we’ll soon be fighting a federal hate crimes bill whose purpose is to stifle religious dissent to the homosexual agenda. If the bill is as strenuous as the one passed in Canada, look out!
