June 2005 Action Update
'What are the implications for morality and the family?' As you know, the battle to end the unfair and unprecedented filibuster of President Bush’s judicial nominees came to a dramatic and disappointing climax several weeks ago. Just as it appeared that Majority Leader Bill Frist and his Republican colleagues would be able to restore Senate tradition and secure up-or-down votes for all nominees with majority support, a cabal of seven GOP Senators caved in and sided with seven liberal Democrats. Together, they arrived at what amounts to an unfortunate “compromise” that, if allowed to stand, will have longterm implications for our democracy.
