UPDATE: Health Care Vote Expected This Weekend
Senator Harry Reid is expected to push a vote on his health care bill this weekend, possibly as early as 1 a.m. on Monday. Please contact your senators right now and urge them to vote ?No? on any vote to end debate on the health care bill. Democrats need 60 votes to end debate on the bill and move to a final vote. They must not be allowed to do so. This bill still contains direct federal funding of abortion and allows for the government to subsidize private plans that cover abortion. So contact your senators right now and ask them to vote ?No? on any procedural move to end debate on the health care bill.
The health care debate has now moved into the Senate as Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada) just released his 2,074 page health care reform proposal. Reid's proposal includes, among other things, federal funding for abortions, both through a public plan, and through government-subsidized premiums paid to health care providers that provide abortion. The Senate is expected to conduct its first procedural vote on the bill on Saturday, November 21st. Please contact your 2 U.S. senators and urge them to vote NO on the cloture vote to move Senator Reid's health care bill to the floor for debate, because the bill does not include the pro-life Stupak language that was passed by the House. We must stop this Senate bill before it moves to the floor for a final vote.
