I cannot begin to tell you how Focus on the Family's radio broadcasts and resources have helped to shape me as a Christian wife and parent. All I really need to know about parenting and having a Christ-centered family, I learned primarily from my Bible, my parents and Focus on the Family.
When we were 9 years and 3 kids into our marriage, my husband checked out of our lives. I knew I could call Focus on the Family and they would direct me to a Christian marriage counselor as well as recommend books and resources. They sent me a radio broadcast that mirrored our life, and it gave me such hope. They also directed me to Love Must Be Tough by Dr. James Dobson. I read it cover-to-cover in one sitting and knew what I had to do. I prayerfully asked my husband to leave until he could decide to be the husband and father God had called him to be. He left, and during that month of separation, God stepped in and did a miraculous work in my husband's heart and in our home.
We renewed our vows on our 10th wedding anniversary, and we just celebrated our 17th last week. God continues to restore and rebuild our home. I attribute the "saving" of our marriage to God ultimately, and His vital work through Focus on the Family's ministry.
